The South Carolina Gamecocks announced the addition of the Miami Hurricanes to future football schedules, a home-and-home arrangement that starts in 2026.
The Canes make the trip to Columbia on Sept. 5, 2026, and the Gamecocks will visit Miami on Sept. 11, 2027.
South Carolina is no stranger to scheduling additional ACC schools outside of Clemson, but until this point, has largely alternated between North Carolina and N.C. State — historic ACC rivals who are also in nearby and fertile recruiting territory for the Gamecocks.
The last time the Gamecocks met The U was in 2014’s Independence Bowl. That was a 24-21 USC victory, powered by quarterback Dylan Thompson and all-purpose weapon Pharoh Cooper. Overall, Miami leads the series 8-6-2.
While some fans clamor for more marquee OOC matchups and fewer FCS tuneups, others prefer a low-risk scheduling approach. I think it’s kind of cool that USC is finally looking outside of the Carolinas to fill its schedule, and as it currently stands, these could/should be competitive games. Of course, 2026 is a long time from now. How are y’all feeling about it?
