The Gamecocks beat the College of Charleston to improve to 20-3.

The Gamecocks got their scoring done quickly in a 4-2 win against the College of Charleston Cougars on Tuesday night. Tanner English led off the game with a double and scored on an RBI single from Joey Pankake. A single from Kyle Martin moved Pankake to third and an RBI single from Elliot Caldwell scored him. The Gamecocks extended their early lead to 4-0 in the second inning after an RBI from Pankake scored Gene Cone and Marcus Mooney.

Neither team could get any runs across the plate again until the Cougars finally got on the board in the sixth inning with an RBI single from Carl Wise. The Cougars made a late bid at a comeback, scoring another run in the ninth inning, but ultimately fell short.

The Gamecock bats were pretty quiet after the first two innings, but there were a couple of bright spots in the offense. Pankake had a fantastic game with two singles, a double, and 3 RBI. Caldwell also had two singles, one of them an RBI in the first inning.

Two Gamecock pitchers allowed their first earned run of the season tonight, as Josh Reagan and Cody Mincey each allowed a run. Taylor Widener had a nice start for the Gamecocks allowing one hit, walking one batter, and striking out two in his three innings pitched.

The Gamecocks will return to action on Wednesday night in Carolina stadium against Coastal Carolina at 7 p.m.
