After rebounding from an ugly opening day loss to take the series against the College of Charleston, the Gamecocks are set to host the Furman Paladins tonight. The Paladins enter the matchup 1-2 after dropping their opening series to Akron.

As has been typical over the past few seasons, this is the first of two games between the Gamecocks and the Paladins. USC will travel to Greenville to face the Paladins at Fluor Field in April. The Gamecocks have won eight of the last ten meetings between the teams decisively, but the Paladins stole one in Greenville in both 2011 and 2013. South Carolina has an overall record of 111-54-2 over Furman.

South Carolina Furman
Batting Average .261 .219
On-Base Percentage .384 .272
Slugging Percentage .359 .390
ERA 3.33 5.79
Fielding Percentage 1.000 .944

Sophomore right-hander Matthew Vogel will get the start for the Gamecocks. It will be his first appearance of the 2015 season. During his freshman year Vogel had a 6.91 ERA in 8 appearances. The starter for the Paladins will be sophomore lefty Billy Greenfield, who has a 3.86 ERA in 2.1 innings pitched so far this season.
