South Carolina lost the first and second games against Mississippi State this weekend by a combined score of 35-9, which is really bad! Probably no one who cheers for the Gamecocks expected these games to go well, but 24-7 and 11-2 final scores look a lot more like they came from a football field (though that second one would require two safeties) than a baseball diamond.
Scoring highlights (if you can call them that) for USC in the first game included two RBIs from Andrew Eyster on a pair of doubles and two RBIs from Ian Jenkins on a groundout and a base hit. The Gamecocks’ only two runs in the second game came on wild pitches.
This very sad regular season wraps up on Saturday afternoon, with first pitch set for 1:30 p.m. CT. South Carolina will try to somehow avoid being swept.
