Big-time Atlanta wide receiver Randrecous Davis down to South Carolina, Miami (Fla.)

After reopening his recruitment today, the talented WR will take a visit to the Gamecocks this weekend.

Four-star Atlanta (Mays) WR Randrecous Davis looked as if he was headed to the Georgia BulldogsHe committed back in July, giving the news to his primary recruiter, Bryan McClendon.

But things have now changed. Mark Richt, fired at Georgia, headed to Miami (Fla.) to succeed Al Golden. McClendon subsequently joined Will Muschamp's staff at South Carolina. With his potential head coach and position coach both gone from the program, that decreased the likelihood of Davis sticking around.

That came to pass this afternoon. Davis, unsurprisingly, decommitted from UGA, his high school coach told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution's Jeff Sentell today. He just took a visit to Richt and the Hurricanes and will head to South Carolina to see Muschamp and McClendon this coming weekend. After his visit to Carolina, he will make his decision.

Sentell notes that Davis wasn't much of a priority for Kirby Smart after the former Alabama DC and new Dawgs coach came on board. That's an opening for the Gamecocks to add a top recruit to their stable. 247Sports has him leaning toward joining Richt at the U, but it would be difficult to count Muschamp and McClendon out of this battle.

More to come...
