The South Carolina Gamecocks have been installed as a 5-point underdog by Las Vegas in its season opener against N.C. State in Charlotte, according to projections published by OddsShark.
The line has seen a lot of movement since it opened in the offseason, when some books had the Wolfpack favored by as much as a touchdown. There's been some recent activity in the past few days as well, with N.C. State slipping to -5 from -5.5 and even sitting at -4.5 in some books, possibly because of veteran cornerback Mike Stevens' injury. The over/under is set at 52.5, indicating the expectation that this will be a fairly high-scoring matchup.
As for win totals in 2017, Vegas pegged the over/under for South Carolina this season at 5.5, with N.C. State at 7.5.
In 2016, the Wolfpack were tops in the ACC at 9-4 against the spread. The Gamecocks were in the middle of the SEC pack at 6-7.
