South Carolina Gamecocks Recruiting Updates

It's the time of year when something happens every day in the wacky world of recruiting. Here's the news that's happened over the past few days:

Clowney enjoyed night in Columbia--Kornblut

Check here and elsewhere to read about Clowney's visit to Columbia this weekend, which included the Lattimore treatment at the basketball game.

Harris to finalize decision late next week--Kornblut

Harris is now being pursued  by Miami, which could be bad news for Carolina. Harris plays at a position of need for us, so we need to seal the deal with him.

Jared Henry Decommits--Kornblut

DB recruit Jared Henry has chosen to decommit to the Gamecocks in favor of Central Florida. Henry looked like a solid player, but don't worry too much over his decommitment, Carolina fans. We've signed a strong DB class, and particularly with the recent commitments of more highly players in Sheldon Royster and Ahmad Christian, Henry may have received the dreaded greyshirt conversation. The numbers have a way of working themselves out, as they say.

Byers on USC campus--Kornblut

Byers will take a final visit to Columbia before making his decision whether to come to USC or to go to Oregon. The only thing left for him to do is to decide whether or not he can get along with Clowney.

Byers does not commit on Oregon visit--Kornblut

More news on the Byers situation.

Christian hopes to play early at USC--Kornblut

Some news from recent commitment Ahmad Christian.
