South Carolina at Tennessee Post-Game: Quick Hits

I'll be back tomorrow with a proper response to this fine day of football. Here are a few quick thoughts.

1. Arkansas almost lost to Vandy today. Florida lost to Georgia, and was lucky not to lose by more. I know there are concerns about our offense, but we can beat both of these teams. We're in the driver's seat. This year, what we need to do is win without the help of a losing SEC East. I think we can do it.

2. Our defense. Just don't know what to say. It's one of the best in the nation, and it wasn't just the athletes tonight. It was a well-called game by Johnson, who didn't take the bait and only rely on our DL. He also worked in some great coverage schemes tonight. Very, very impressed by what he's doing. It's been an epic performance, and it's come just in the nick of time, with the offense struggling.

3. Needless to say, our offense line and Brandon Wilds deserve major credit for what they did in the second half. Did you see Wilds going for 100+ tonight? Me either.

4. Connor Shaw's passing numbers may not have been impressive tonight, but...seriously, this guy is player. A baller. I liked what I saw from him tonight. The passing plays, and Alshon Jeffery, will come. Trust me, Arkansas won't be doubting Brandon Wilds next week, if you know what I mean.

5. Spurrier took what the defense gave him tonight. I know he's been criticized, and certainly the offense hasn't been great...but it's getting it done. Sometimes it's playing to your strength. Spurrier is doing that.

Go 'Cocks!

PS: Guess we're now the best team in SC. Suck it, Tigs.
