Man. That brought tears to my eyes. September can't get here soon enough.
I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited about a football season before.

I was just shocked that USC showed up in an
L.A. paper and they were actually talking about us. I am trying so hard to keep my hopes and dreams and bay and just wait for the football team to show me they are ready for this like the baseball team has been the last two years. I really am tired of the heartache but I will always believe. I live in a conundrum lol.

All you gotta do this year
is have faith that they will do what is expected of them… if they do they should be in the BCS Title game

I know were turnin the corner

I'm really trying to guard against these types of articles.
We’re good, but so are other teams. I’m optimistic for the 2011 season, but come on. National title? Let’s beat Kentucky again first.

but at the same time...
I couldn’t read that article and not get excited about a possible SEC championship. Which is why I’m trying to avoid these kinds of articles.

I tend to agree with you.
Running the table would be a dream, but I think a more reasonable goal is 10 wins.

Ten wins is the threshhold for success, IMO. That national title is a possibility, but it's a very unlikely one.
We have some nice top-end talent with Alshon, Marcus, and Stephon, but going undefeated requires a bit of luck, too. Plus, I don’t think we have quite the depth we need at some positions, and QB is a big question mark. Garcia has to prove he can go a whole season without having a three-INT game if we’re going to go undefeated.

14-0 or the season is a complete failure and everyone should be fired.

LOL.
I don’t know GM. While passionate, the guy was utterly unrealistic. Like a fundamentalist or something. He had a Clemson fan’s lofty expectations and, while pretty up to speed on the numbers, had an aversion to basic logic.
Although it would be a funny in-joke if we punctuated any prediction or analysis with the caviat “I’ve only been a football fan for seven years.”
You know what? I do kinda miss that guy, now that I think of it.

I'm not denying that he was crazy. But, other than a couple of ocassions when he went overboard, he also brought some fun to our threads.
And despite the unrealistic expectations, he was fairly knowledgeable and passionate about football.

No doubt. The passion was there, and he knew his numbers.
He would have been better served as an objective source. His outlook was just a bit gloomy at all times.

I think we have plenty of talent
and enough depth the challenge for a national title. I have this gut feeling we will get there too.

Interesting:
An article on the LA Times, apparently from Philadlephia, PA about a team in Columbia, SC.
*It says Sports Network so I suppose that a group similar to but distinct from the Associated Press. Still quite the geography in this article.
And yes, I am hungry, and I would love to sample Chef Spurriers finest cullinary concoction to date.
