The South Carolina Gamecocks and Akron Zips face off this evening in a battle for third place in the Charleston Classic. Each team opened the tournament with a victory - over Southern Cal and Cornell, respectively, before losses on Friday. The Zips fell to a Miami (FL) team that looks primed to walk away with the tournament championship, while the Gamecocks fell in a close contest to Charlotte, 65-63.
Time: 6:30pm on Sunday night.
TV: The game can be found on ESPNU.
Location: Charleston, SC. If you're in the area, you can probably still make it, but you better hurry.
With a win here, the Gamecocks would move to 3-2 on the season as they head into a stretch of six games where five will be at home, with the only away trip to West Virginia to meet up with Marshall. As such, there's a great opportunity for Carolina to kick off a winning streak in Charleston that could run into the new year. With their best player, Demetrius Treadwell, suspended for the game this evening, there's no reason the Gamecocks shouldn't walk away winners.
So, with that in mind, let's talk about the action tonight as the Gamecocks and Zips face off for the third time in 12 months.
