It's been 14 tries since the last time the South Carolina Gamecocks beat the Tennessee Volunteers in basketball. Tonight, they can not only break that unimpressive streak, but also take back their fading hopes for the NCAA Tournament.
South Carolina welcomes the Volunteers on Tuesday evening to the Colonial Life Arena needing a victory to climb out of the cellar of the SEC (a three-way tie with Missouri and Mississippi State) and back towards the right end of the leaderboard. On the other side of the match-up, Tennessee looks to continue its hot start to SEC play despite a relatively mediocre non-conference effort. A win here gets them to 4-1 and all of a sudden makes them look like a serious contender to make noise in the SEC, although certainly not to win it.
So with that in mind, let's see how it all unfolds.
Preview is here.
