The Gamecocks finally snapped out of their month-long SEC slump over the weekend and took the series against Vanderbilt to improve to 25-16 (8-10). Things definitely look a lot more positive than they did a week ago, but the Gamecocks still need to show that they can play well enough to win consistently.
South Carolina already beat Furman 5-2 in Columbia in February and improved their overall record against the Paladins to 112-54-2. The Gamecocks are looking to sweep the season series for the second year in a row.
Furman is 18-20 (7-8) on the season, but enters tonight's games on a two-game winning streak after getting a series victory against Southern Conference foe Western Carolina. The Paladins have had several opponents in common with the Gamecocks (including Clemson, Georgia and PC) but have not managed wins against any of those teams.
