As is customary, the 6-foot-5, 215 lb. two-sport athlete announced his decision via Twitter. His father, Deltona High School head basketball coach Denny Hinson, confirmed the commitment a short time ago.
Hinson is capable of playing wide receiver, tight end, and weakside defensive end which should bode well for the Gamecocks, who are lacking for a versatile offensive option following the departure of both Pharoh Cooper and Jerrell Adams.
Originally a Miami commit, Hinson re-opened his search immediately upon receiving an offer from South Carolina. He visited Columbia on January 15th, where he reportedly offered his commitment in person to coach Will Muschamp, but did not make his decision public until after a visit to Southern Cal this past weekend.
This is the third TE commitment and the 24th overall commitment for the Gamecocks' 2016 class.
