The Feed Pail, October 24, 2016: Everyone is talking about Jake Bentley, women’s soccer won the SEC, and more

It was a good weekend for South Carolina sports

NCAA Football: Massachusetts at South Carolina Jeff Blake-USA TODAY Sports

Gamecock Central: Bentley, McIlwain going forward, Muschamp says. Here are the notes from Sunday’s teleconference, including plenty of talk about the quarterbacks. Also, David Williams shines in first start in a month.

The Big Spur: USC defense forcing more turnovers. “While the Gamecocks defense does have work to do like stopping the run and keeping points off the board, the ability to force turnovers has been a strength this season.” Freshman Report: Bentley makes Gamecock debut. Stats from the Carolina freshmen that got playing time against UMass, including the very notable newcomer. And in baseball news, Gamecocks wrap Garnet & Black World Series preparation.

The State: Bentley has a great debut but the follow through is the harder part. I’m not sure South Carolina fans really need to be reminded but yeah, a new quarterback doesn’t solve all of the team’s problems and living up to expectations won’t be easy for Jake.

ESPN: The SEC Blog recognized Jake Bentley in the Week 8 Helmet Stickers, but they still have the Gamecocks at 13th in the Week 8 Power Rankings.
