NFL Draft Combine: Brandon Shell appears to injure hamstring during 40-yard dash; recovers in time for broad jump

Shell is hoping to boost his draft profile during his combine session.

The NFL Combine has been happening all this week in Indianapolis, but the positional workouts have only begun today. Friday's events will include workouts for offensive linemen, running backs and special teams players, and former South Carolina OL Brandon Shell was among the players in action today at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Shell, who's being projected as a "developmental prospect" in his draft profile at NFL.com, appeared to be in pretty good health when setting up for the 40-yard dash. He ended up running a 5.22 (among the top 20 times among all offensive linemen), but came up a little lame at the end of his attempt.

Shell worked through it and was able to proceed to the broad jump. There, he registered a mark of 112.0 inches, 3rd among OL. Not bad.

As he stacks up to the rest of the offensive linemen at the combine, Shell is sure to be overlooked, which makes his performance - as well as his pro day coming up in a few months - important. Projections have Shell going in the seventh round of the draft; at worst, he'll likely get a look from a team or two as an undrafted free agent.

We're keeping an eye on RB Brandon Wilds as well as he'll be on the field today undergoing workouts with the running backs. Tomorrow will be a big day, too; WR Pharoh Cooper and TE Jerell Adams will participate with the other players at his position.
