The Final Cockdown: #41, Tyler Ragsdale

The walk-on linebacker from the Lowcountry continues our offseason-long series.

WB

Tyler Ragsdale

Linebacker
RS Freshman
6’1”, 203
Mt. Pleasant, SC

Recruitment

Ragsdale played at Wando near Charleston, SC, and was a Shrine Bowl participant after his senior year as one of the top high school players in North and South Carolina. Despite 84 tackles, eight TFLs and four sacks, he only received interest from The Citadel, Stetson and Army before deciding to walk on to the Gamecocks’ football program.

College Career

Ragsdale ended up redshirting last season and will wear #41.

Outlook

As a walk-on linebacker, Ragsdale probably won’t see much time (if any) in 2016 unless a dire emergency presents itself. However, with the numbers he put up with a pretty good Wando program in high school, the staff could be able to find some use for him down the road.

Potpourri

Ragsdale’s future was a little up in the air on National Signing Day 2015. However, it wasn’t until a phone call from Steve Spurrier Jr. inviting him to come on board as a preferred walk-on that he settled on coming to Columbia.
