Gamecocks in the NFL: Damiere Byrd flies back to the end zone

A look at how former South Carolina players fared in the NFL last week.

WR Damiere Byrd, Panthers: Coming off a two-touchdown performance last week, Byrd lit up the scoreboard again with a 103-yard kickoff returned for a touchdown, which set a franchise record in Carolina’s win against Tampa Bay. Byrd, who also had a catch for 31 yards, unfortunately hurt his knee and was placed on injured reserve. Tough end to the season for him after a couple of outstanding weeks.

DE Jadeveon Clowney, Texans: Clowney tallied two tackles, including a tackle for loss, in Houston’s blowout defeat to Pittsburgh.

S Darian Stewart, Broncos: Stewart was third on the team with four tackles, including half a tackle for loss, as Denver fell to Washington.

RB Mike Davis, Seahawks: Davis was the second-leading rusher behind quarterback Russell Wilson, logging 25 yards on 15 carries and catching for passes for 18 yards as Seattle downed Dallas.

TE Jerell Adams, Giants: Adams logged four catches for 31 yards in New York’s shutout loss to Arizona.

DB Johnathan Joseph, Texans: Joseph had two tackles for Houston.

DE Melvin Ingram, Chargers: Ingram had two tackles and a quarterback hit for Los Angeles in its win against the New York Jets.

S D.J. Swearinger, Redskins: Swearinger notched four tackles and a pass defensed for the Redskins.

CB Stephon Gilmore, Patriots: Gilmore logged five tackles for New England in its big win against Buffalo.

TE Jared Cook, Raiders: Cook had one catch for 15 yards in Oakland’s wild loss to Philadelphia.

PR/KR Pharoh Cooper, Rams: Cooper tallied four kick returns for 87 yards with a long of 28 and one punt return for three yards.

CB Captain Munnerlyn, Panthers: Munnerlyn had just one tackle against the Buccaneers.

K Ryan Succop, Titans: Succop went 3-of-4 on his field goal attempts, drilling a long of 37, and hit both of his extra points in Tennessee’s loss to the Los Angeles Rams.

FB Patrick DiMarco, Bills: DiMarco had a catch, but was nailed for an eight-yard loss.
