South Carolina vs. Michigan: Outback Bowl injury report

After 12 games, the Gamecocks are a bit banged up.

Running back A.J. Turner could be limited to special teams.

After closing the regular season with an 8-4 record, the South Carolina Gamecocks were rewarded with a trip to the Outback Bowl for a matchup against the Michigan Wolverines. Former and oft-injured cornerback Akeem Auguste will guide you through who’s likely in and who’s out for the Gamecocks this Saturday against the Gators.

Zero Augustes - Full go!

One Augustes - Should play, but won't start

Two Augustes - Game-time decision

Three Augustes - Questionable

Four Augustes - Unlikely

Five Augustes - Out

Rico Dowdle — Five Augustes

Dowdle, seemingly the 600th Gamecock to suffer a fractured fibula this season, will not be available against Michigan. I’m not sure how likely he was to return anyway, but coach Will Muschamp has confirmed he won’t.

Zack Bailey — Three Augustes

The right tackle, considered the Gamecocks’ best offensive lineman with NFL aspirations, has struggled with injury over the course of the season. He’s been seen in a yellow non-contact jersey during bowl practice.

Donnell Stanley — Three Augustes

Stanley, the starter at left guard, has also been sporting a yellow practice jersey. It could mean some pretty tough sledding for the offensive line if both players are unavailable.

A.J. Turner — One Auguste

Turner’s late-season ankle sprain is another blow to the running back rotation, which was already dealing with Dowdle’s absence. It’s a big shame for Turner, too, since he came on strong in the final weeks. Thankfully his injury won’t keep him out against Michigan, but it sounds like he could be seeing most of his action on special teams with Ty’Son Williams and Mon Denson getting the bulk of the carries.
