It took a few weeks, but the injury bug made up for lost time and took a big bite out of the South Carolina Gamecocks. Former and oft-injured cornerback Akeem Auguste will guide you through who’s in and who’s out for the Gamecocks on Saturday.
Zero Augustes - Full go!
One Augustes - Should play, but won't start
Two Augustes - Game-time decision
Three Augustes - Questionable
Four Augustes - Unlikely
Five Augustes - Out
Deebo Samuel — Five Augustes
The Gamecocks’ star kick returner and wide receiver suffered a broken bone in his leg in the loss to Kentucky. He underwent successful surgery this week, but there’s no timetable for his return. Early reports indicated he would miss the rest of the season, but Samuel and his mother claim it’s a 5-6 week recovery. We’ll see.
Zack Bailey — Five Augustes
Considered the Gamecocks’ best offensive lineman, Bailey suffered a high ankle sprain against the Wildcats. According to coach Will Muschamp, the right tackle will likely be out a couple more weeks.
Dante Sawyer — Two Augustes
The defensive end suffered a hamstring injury against Kentucky. He’s considered a gametime decision.
Bryson Allen-Williams — One Auguste
Allen-Williams banged up his shoulder, but will play — it just sounds like he’ll see fewer snaps.
Of note
Tavyn Jackson and Steven Montac were not specifically mentioned in this injury report, but as both have been on the shelf for weeks, it’s probably safe to assume they won’t be rushed back for Louisiana Tech.
