The Gamecocks fell to No. 15 Missouri in the Other Columbia, suffering an 83-74 setback that was full of contentious foul calls and even resulted in the ejection of coach Dawn Staley. Ty Harris recorded her second double-double with 14 points and 10 assists to lead South Carolina, and Bianca Jackson (14) and Mikiah Herbet Harrigan (11) came off the bench to provide a boost. A’ja Wilson, saddled with foul trouble, was a non-factor with just eight points.
What to watch for
South Carolina will look to continue a seven-game winning streak against Auburn, which is coming off an 82-73 loss at No. 17 Texas A&M. The Tigers also took a tough loss to No. 6 Tennessee in Knoxville, falling 70-59 after being tied with fewer than two minutes to play.
Tigers freshman Unique Thompson, averaging 11.8 points and 9.1 rebounds per game, has earned SEC freshman of the week honors twice this season. Auburn is also led by junior guard Janiah McKay, who puts up 16.2 points per game and leads the SEC in steals with three per game.
