Star forward A’ja Wilson is questionable for the No. 9 Gamecocks’ upcoming showdown against No. 6 Tennessee on Sunday, which would be quite the blow for South Carolina.
Wilson scored 19 points and pulled down 11 rebounds in South Carolina’s 71-63 win against Auburn on Thursday, becoming the third Gamecock to score her 2,000th career point. But she twisted her ankle in the final minutes of the game when her foot landed on another player’s while going for a rebound. According to Wilson and coach Dawn Staley, the injury is considered day-to-day, although Staley has been preparing for Wilson’s absence just in case.
On Friday, Wilson attended a jersey retirement ceremony in her honor at her alma mater, Heathwood Hall, on a scooter and in a walking boot:

Kind of a scary sight if you’re a Gamecock fan, but I’m sure they’re being as careful as possible. Staley indicated that Wilson’s availability will largely come down to her pain tolerance, so we’ll see how she’s feeling after a few days of treatment.
