South Carolina took on a No. 6 Tennessee team that is back on the rise, and unfortunately had to do so without star player A’ja Wilson, who injured her ankle in the previous game. After a closely contested first half, the Lady Vols wore the Gamecocks down in the process of pulling away for an 86-70 victory. Point guard Ty Harris was the silver lining for USC, as she continued her stellar play this season by dropping a career-high 28 points.

What to watch for

It’s likely Wilson will be held out against the overmatched Commodores, who just picked up their first SEC win at Kentucky on Sunday. Mikiah Herbert Harrigan, who served as Wilson’s replacement against Tennessee, may also be unavailable after suffering an injury of her own.

Vanderbilt is led by Cierra Walker’s 13.4 points per game, and Chelsie Hall (12.8) also averages double figures. The Commodores are solidly middle-of-the-pack in the SEC in field goal percentage (44.4%) and 3-point percentage (38.9%), but dead last in rebounds (28.4 per game) and second to last in blocks (1.7). Even with depth issues, the Gamecocks should be able to impose their will in the post.
