Last game
The Gamecocks romped past Arkansas, 90-42, in a game that showcased A’ja Wilson’s return to form after her ankle injury: She dropped 27 points to go with 13 rebounds and seven blocks in her return to the starting lineup. Wilson also eclipsed 1,000 career rebounds, becoming just the second player in program history to achieve that mark in addition to reaching 2,000 points. Alexis Jennings (22 points, 10 rebounds) and Bianca Jackson (16 points) also stood out for the Gamecocks.
What to watch for
The Tigers took the first round on Jan. 7, toppling then-No. 4 South Carolina 83-74 in a somewhat controversial contest that saw coach USC Dawn Staley get ejected and very little playing time from a foul-troubled Wilson. With their star back from injury, the Gamecocks will certainly hope to get more minutes out of Wilson this time around.
Missouri is coming off a surprising 62-50 loss at No. 21 Georgia following three straight wins (Arkansas, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt) after their victory over the Gamecocks. Sophie Cunningham is a player to watch: In her previous two games against South Carolina, she averaged 26.5 points while making 19 of 26 field goal attempts.
