#SpursUp! Four-star LB Mohamed Kaba commits to South Carolina

The Gamecocks won out over Florida, N.C. State and North Carolina.

The South Carolina Gamecocks got some good news on Thursday afternoon. Clinton (N.C.) outside linebacker Mohamed Kaba, ranked as the No. 6 OLB and No. 3 player in the state of North Carolina by 247Sports’ composite rankings, committed to the program during a ceremony at his high school.

While N.C. State was favored to get the 6’3”, 210-pounder, the four-star recruit spurned overtures from the in-state program and made the call for Will Muschamp and the Gamecocks. North Carolina and Florida were his other favorites.

“I really like the coaches and facilities,” Kaba told Phil Kornblut following a visit to South Carolina a few months ago. Coach Muschamp said he likes that I read plays fast and also likes my length and size.”

Kaba becomes the sixth player from the class of 2020 to pledge to the Gamecocks and the first defender to do so. The top get of the class continues to be Myrtle Beach (S.C.) dual-threat quarterback Luke Doty, considered to be the No. 3 player in the state and the No. 3 dual-threat QB in the country.
