As you’d hope for a season opener, the South Carolina Gamecocks will enter their matchup against the North Carolina Tar Heels in good health. There aren’t any major surprises here, so let former and oft-injured Akeem Auguste is here to guide you through the first injury report of the season.
Zero Augustes - Full go!
One Augustes - Should play, but won’t start
Two Augustes - Game-time decision
Three Augustes - Questionable
Four Augustes - Unlikely
Five Augustes - Out
Keir Thomas — Five Augustes
The senior defensive lineman is the newest and most recent addition to this report, and is apparently dealing with an ankle issue. He’s expected to miss next week’s home opener against Charleston Southern as well, although he’s at least been able to practice.
J.T. Ibe — Two Augustes
The senior defensive back is considered a game-time decision with a strained pectoral muscle, but coach Will Muschamp seemed optimistic.
Randrecous Davis — Two Augustes
The redshirt junior receiver is another game-time decision Muschamp feels good about, although he didn’t elaborate on the nature of Davis’ injury.
Notable: As announced earlier in the offseason, safety Jaylin Dickerson (hip) and tight end Kiel Pollard (neck) are out for the season, with Pollard stepping away from the sport entirely.
