South Carolina vs. North Florida: Midweek Preview

Time to get back on track.

So this past weekend was not kind to our South Carolina Gamecocks, who followed up a strong 4-0 start to the season with a shocking series loss to Northwestern, with each defeat coming in extra innings as the Gamecocks struggled to get timely hits with runners on base.

This weekend’s rivalry series with Clemson looms large, but thankfully not before a chance to get in a tune-up and get back on track against North Florida this afternoon.

The Ospreys (2-4) started their season with a series win against VMI, but were swept this past weekend by Rutgers. They’ll send freshman lefty Tony Roca (0-0, 6.00 ERA, 3 IP, 3 K) to the mound, where the Gamecocks will counter with junior right-hander Andrew Peters (0-0, 0.00 ERA, 1 IP, 1 SO).

South Carolina has played (and beaten!) North Florida just once before, coming away with a 5-2 victory in 2018.
