Gamecocks in the NFL: Week 2

Checking in on the pros.

Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

Hayden Hurst (Falcons): The tight end notched his first score with his new team in Atlanta’s wild 40-39 loss to the Cowboys, collecting five receptions for 72 yards.

Jared Cook (Saints): Cook only had a couple receptions for 13 yards in New Orleans’ surprising loss to Las Vegas, but made it count with a touchdown.

Mike Davis (Panthers): Davis set a career high with 74 receiving yards on eight catches after star tailback Christian McCaffrey went down with an ankle injury in Carolina’s 31-17 loss to Tampa Bay. Look for Davis to get a lot more action over the next 4-6 weeks.

Jadeveon Clowney (Titans): Clowney had a quieter game this week, logging a couple solo tackles in the Titans’ 33-30 win against Jacksonville.

Damiere Byrd (Patriots): Hooking up with former and current teammate Cam Newton, Byrd had a very productive day with the Patriots, pulling in eight receptions for 72 yards as the Seahawks edged New England 35-30.

Stephon Gilmore (Patriots): Gilmore had a quieter week with New England, logging three solo tackles.

Jonathan Joseph (Titans): Joseph had four tackles, two solo, and a pass defensed.

Melvin Ingram (Chargers): Ingram was held to just a pass defensed in the Chargers’ 23-20 loss to Kansas City.

Bryan Edwards (Raiders): Edwards improved on his quiet Week 1 performance with a nice outing, collecting two catches for 42 yards to finish as the Raiders’ second-leading receiver.

Rashad Fenton (Chiefs): Fenton grabbed three tackles for the Chiefs, two solo.

Taylor Stallworth (Colts): Stallworth notched two tackles in Indy’s 28-11 win over Minnesota.

Javon Kinlaw (49ers): Kinlaw had two tackles, one solo, in San Francisco’s 31-13 win against the New York Jets.

Pharoh Cooper (Panthers): Much like the rest of the Panthers, Cooper struggled against the Buccaneers, fumbling on one of his two punt returns and failing to post positive yardage.

Joseph Charlton (Panthers): On the other hand, Charlton booted two punts for a total of 101 yards, with a long of 57, as he continues to be a bright spot on Carolina’s special teams.

Ryan Succop (Buccaneers): Succop had a bounce-back week, nailing all four extra points and a 33-yard field goal.
