The Gamecocks continued their winning streak as they crushed Winthrop Wednesday night to improve to 4-1. The Gamecocks face the Charleston Southern Buccaneers in the second weekend series of the season, which begins Friday afternoon in Founders Park. Carolina leads the all-time series with CSU 74-12 and beat the Buccaneers last year in the teams’ most recent matchup.
CSU is 2-2 after losing their first series to Delaware and bouncing back with a win in extra innings over Savannah State on Tuesday. The Buccaneer offense is led by junior Jason Miller (.438/.550/.438). The team has a few extra base hits, including a couple of triples hit by freshmen, but has yet to hit a home run this season.
