Even before South Carolina has filled up a potential top-five 2015 recruiting class, the Gamecocks are already getting to work on 2016. Four-star athlete Kyle Davis of Lawrenceville (Ga.) Archer became the first player to join Carolina's next recruiting class, making his commitment on Saturday evening while in attendance at the Gamecock Showcase.

Davis committed to South Carolina over offers from 15 other FBS offers, including Florida, Miami, Louisville, Ole Miss, Wisconsin, Mississippi State, and Iowa. The 6'3, 220-pound junior is the No. 16 athlete and the 198th-best overall prospect in the 2016 class, according to the 247Sports Composite index.

There are several other current South Carolina commitments on hand at the Gamecock Showcase. If another prospect is going to take the garnet and black before he leaves Columbia this weekend, the popular thinking is that it will be four-star JUCO defensive end Marquavius Lewis. The 6'4, 271-pound Greenwood, S.C. native is the No. 2 overall junior college prospect according to the 247Sports composite. Lewis is by far the highest-rated target left on South Carolina's board for the 2015 cycle.
