The South Carolina Gamecocks received yet another big boost to their 2016 class as Marlon Character committed to the team late Saturday night. It was the program's third commitment of the day, their fourth of the weekend, and their second four-star commitment from the class of 2016.
Character, who as recently as Thursday afternoon had Auburn over USC in his final two, stopped by for a visit on Saturday. He had mentioned that he would take at least a couple of days to make his final decision; however, it only took him a few hours. Character wraps up a big day for the Gamecocks on the recruiting trail. The 20th-ranked 2016 player in the state of Alabama is also ranked by Rivals as the country's #12 safety, but will likely play cornerback (where he prefers to play) at USC.
Earlier, P.J. Blue and junior college OL Akeem Cooperwood pledged, one day after in-state WR/DE Chris Smith committed. Could even more be on the way tomorrow or next week? We'll see, but this has been a very successful weekend already for the Gamecocks regardless.
