Robert Tucker had over 20 offers to wade through as he prepared to make his decision. In the end, the South Carolina Gamecocks were the ones that stuck out the most.
Tucker, a tight end from Atlanta's B.E.S.T. Academy, committed to the Gamecocks today, as reported by JC Shurburtt. He becomes the 23rd commitment from the class of 2016, but only the second tight end. With so many schools having offered him, that tells you the demand for his services, even though he's only listed as a three-star athlete.
Tucker is 6'3" and 237 pounds - not as big as Jacob August. Nevertheless, he should still add some receiving options and some targets for the passing game. Keep in mind, the team lost its two top receiving threats - Pharoh Cooper and Jerell Adams - so grouped with Deebo Samuel and several wide receivers, Tucker might get some decent playing time. However, he also plays LB, so there are some other options.
It looks like Tucker has an official visit planned for tomorrow. However, he has apparently decided to not wait until then and has pledged to Will Muschamp and his staff.
