South Carolina Football Recruiting: Karamo Dioubate visiting today; can Gamecocks land him?

Carolina has a shot at landing one of the gems of the 2016 defensive end class.

He may be one of the big-time guys you aren't hearing too about on the recruiting trail (compared to guys like Rashan Gary), but the South Carolina Gamecocks are being paid a visit today by one of the top defensive ends in the 2016 class.

Defensive lineman Karamo Dioubate, a product of Philadelphia (Pa.) Prep Charter, is set to arrive in Columbia at some point today. He took an official visit to Michigan State yesterday but will be making the trip this way to see Will Muschamp, Lance Thompson and the staff. The former Penn State pledge - who decommitted on January 7 - had a previous OV in his own backyard, Temple, a couple of weeks ago as Matt Rhule is looking to draw a top recruit from an area full of strong football talent.

Dioubate, who recorded 23 sacks as a junior, would give the Gamecocks an elite pass rusher that could legitimately push for a starting assignment down the way from senior Marquavius Lewis or see some time inside as things at DT are very wide open right now. It would represent a huge recruiting win for the staff at this point in the game as we are just six days from NSD.

No longer on the radar: big-time O-guard John Simpson. Simpson said yesterday this his top three were Florida, Clemson and LSU; it looks like he is a very strong Clemson lean and it would surprise me if the team Upstate didn't get him. Also, the team pulled its offer from RB Justin Crawford with their needs in that department taken care of.
