Some quick recruiting tidbits for your Saturday...

Good news for the Gamecocks from Tre’ Shaw

Tre’ Shaw unveiled his top four on Friday afternoon, and the Gamecocks found themselves on it.

Shaw was in Columbia for an unofficial visit in April, which came after he released his top 10, which also included the Gamecocks. While Shaw is trending toward Auburn, it will be interesting to see if the South Carolina staff makes a push for him in the coming weeks. They currently have Florida’s Tavyn Jackson and Damarri Mathis committed at CB for the 2017 class.

Tavyn Jackson sets several visits

Speaking of Jackson, he caught up with SportsTalk’s Phil Kornblut the other day to break down his recruitment. While the corner is pledged to the Gamecocks, he will still shop around - not unusual. Specifically, UCF and Oregon State are on his short list at this point and time.

I actually haven’t talked to Coach Muschamp about taking "other" officials. I think he’s a understanding man, but a coach as well. I’m not honestly sure. Hopefully he doesn’t have an issue to where I have to make a decision.

Again, this isn’t out of the ordinary. Kids commit but continue to take visits all the time - which usually don’t amount to anything in the end. However, we’ll keep tabs on Jackson to see what develops.

Looks like Tennessee and Carolina for T.J. Moore

T.J. Moore had been holding out for a possible Alabama offer. That didn’t happen, so it appears it will be either the Gamecocks or the Vols for the big-time offensive guard. An announcement is expected Monday. No doubt Mallard Creek teammate and fellow lineman Eric Douglas will be in his friend’s ear all weekend long looking to get the big man here in Columbia.
