On a big win and how it feels to see hard work pay off:
I’m proud of our players. I told them after the game, just continue to invest, continue to have some belief, continue to have confidence in what we’re doing, and good things are gonna happen.
You gotta have some results eventually…Why are we working so hard? We’re doing it because we want this feeling. This feels good…And that locker room was a different locker room than we’ve had all year.
On whether he thinks about how young all the freshman contributors are:
We put them on the field we expect them to play at a high level. In order to win in our league you have to…It is what it is, it’s the situation we’re in. But I’m glad we’ve got the guys we’ve got.
On Jake Bentley’s performance:
I thought he did a nice job…He was accurate with the ball…It says a lot about him as a young man, his preparation and what he puts into it.
On mental intensity and what the defense needs to do to be successful:
To me it all goes back to mental intensity and focus…We didn’t have that last week. And we’re not good enough if we don’t have it, we’ve got to have it all the time. We’re not gonna win if we don’t have mental intensity. We’re just not, that’s just the way it is right now.
On home field advantage:
What a great win for our football team, for our program…We’re a different team at home, in the short time that I’ve been here…I don’t think that’s a good thing, we need to be the same all the time. But the fan base certainly has a tremendous effect on us and how we go about our business.
On the penalties and mistakes:
We made some silly mistakes as far as some celebrations and those issues. They’ll be dealt with. I’m disappointed in that. It’s like I said on the headsets, one of the coaches was complaining, I said we ain’t ever been in this position. But we plan on being here a lot.
