South Carolina Gamecocks vs. East Carolina Pirates: WBB Preview

The Gamecocks will try to continue their perfect season this afternoon

The South Carolina Gamecocks women's basketball team will travel to Myrtle Beach at 1 p.m. to take on East Carolina. This matchup is part of the CresCom Bank Carolina Women's College Challenge and will be the lone away game for the Gamecocks this month.

Coming into this game the Pirates are 6-5 on the year and have lost five of their last six after starting 5-0. Their last win came against Eastern Washington by an 80-62 score on November 27. Since then they've dropped games against Northwestern, Auburn, Chattanooga, and Ohio, with two of those decided by three points.

South Carolina is coming off an 86-48 win over Hampton four days ago and are looking to start off 11-0 for the second consecutive year.

Recently, junior center Alaina Coates has been on fire; since returning from the Hawaii trip as she is averaging 22.3 points and 11.7 rebounds in the last three games. She also had her first career triple double versus Winthrop on December 13 and then followed it up with 22 points and 12 rebounds in the Hampton win.

Khadijah Sessions has also begun to step up for South Carolina as she is averaging 6.6 points per game on 68.4 percent shooting from the field, over the last five matches.

The Gamecocks are expecting sophomore forward A'ja Wilson back when they tip-off this afternoon.
