Three-Point Preview
1. Bianca Cuevas-Moore’s role has increased with the absence of A’ja Wilson. So far, she’s been pretty good. The junior has averaged 21 points and shooting over 57% over the past two contests - a career-high 25-point showing against Georgia and a 17-point performance versus LSU. It’s arguably her best two-game stretch as a Gamecock, and if she can carry that confidence forward when Wilson returns, the team will be in a much better place headed toward the SEC and NCAA Tournaments.
2. Madinah Muhammad (13.1 ppg) and Shandricka Sessom (12.7 ppg) lead the way for the Rebels. Ole Miss has been scuffling a little, losing three of their last four to Alabama, Auburn and #4 Mississippi State. However, they did give the Lady Bulldogs a battle in Starkville before eventually falling by 11. Notable: the Rebels have yet to win a true road game this season (0-5) and are yet to lose at their friendly confines of The Pavilion (12-0).
3. If the Gamecocks and Lady Bulldogs both win this evening, then both teams will be ranked in the top five for Monday’s battle at the CLA on ESPN2. At least one other remaining opponent will be ranked in the top five this season: UConn, who sits at 16-0 and show no sign of dropping one anytime soon. If the Huskies remain undefeated through their matchup against the Gamecocks on February 13, they will do so looking to win their 100th game in a row.
