Last night marked Kaela Davis and Allisha Gray’s professional debuts with the Dallas Wings, and if it was a sign of things to come, they’ll do well in the WNBA.
Dallas defeated the Phoenix Mercury 68-58 in both team’s season openers, with Davis leading the way with a game-high 20 points on 6 of 10 shooting in nearly 28 minutes. She was also a perfect 8 for 8 from the line. Gray was 4-9 from the floor with a three and sank two of her three attempts from the stripe to finish with 11 points.
Tough getting back to everyone but thanks for all the tweets!! Had a lot of fun tonight and glad we could get the road win!! #Wings

We’ll obviously have to wait a little longer to see Alaina Coates on the floor; the second overall pick (by the Chicago Sky) is still working her way back from an ankle injury that held her out of the NCAA Tournament. Our sister site Swish Appeal says that she might not be back until around the All-Star break in July.
Meanwhile, Tiffany Mitchell had a phenomenal performance of her own in the Indiana Fever’s opener last night. The second-year guard was good for 17 points (6-9 FG) off the bench in a 87-82 loss to the Seattle Storm. Mitchell averaged 8.6 points per game in 34 contests (eight starts) as a rookie last year.
