No. 2 South Carolina vs. Coastal Carolina: Preview, game time, TV info, and more

The Gamecocks will look to improve to 21-3 before heading into another weekend of SEC play

Bruce Thorson-US PRESSWIRE

The No. 2 South Carolina Gamecocks will play Coastal Carolina Wednesday night at Carolina Stadium after beating the College of Charleston Tuesday night to improve to 20-3. The Gamecocks are 12-5 all-time against Coastal Carolina. The last time the two teams met was in 2010 when the Gamecocks beat Coastal twice in the Super Regional to advance to the College World Series.

The Chanticleers are 10-14 on the season and 2-4 in the Big South Conference. They enter tonight's game fresh off of a 12-4 Tuesday night loss to The Citadel.  The Chants are hitting .257 and have an on-base percentage of .334.  The team ERA is 3.67 and opponents are hitting .258 against them.

The Gamecocks now have a batting average of .302 and an on-base percentage of .381. The pitching staff has looked a little more human in the past week, but still has an ERA of 1.88 with opponents hitting .210 against them. The Gamecocks now have seven pitchers that haven't allowed an earned run this season, and only two pitchers with an ERA above 2.00.

Junior right-handed pitcher Evan Beal will start for the Gamecocks. It will be his first start of the season after missing time with a back injury. He was scheduled to make his first appearance in last week's game against the Citadel, but since that game was postponed this will be his first time back on the mound.

Grayson Greiner was absent from the lineup against College of Charleston and is not expected to play against Coastal Carolina either. Coach Holbrook said he's very concerned about Greiner. Holbrook calls the injury Greiner has "catcher's thumb" and says that it's like a bone bruise. It's a very painful injury and makes it difficult for Greiner to swing the bat.

Start time: 7 p.m.

Location: Columbia, S.C. (Carolina Stadium)

TV: Fox Sports South

The game can also be streamed live via GamecocksOnline.com All-Access and heard on the radio at 107.5 The Game.
