The South Carolina Gamecocks had not one, but two players recognized as Players of the Week by the SEC league office on Monday for their efforts against Tennessee — brothers Dylan Wonnum and D.J. Wonnum.
True freshman right tackle Dylan, who got his first start against the Volunteers, graded out at 71 percent and helped pave the way for a season-high 224 rushing yards for the Gamecocks, which was also the second-best rushing total against a Power 5 school in the Will Muschamp era. Muschamp and staff have been on high on Dylan since he joined the program, and it’s easy to see why.

Junior defensive end D.J. made his return to the starting lineup after going out way back in Week 1 with a sprained ankle. He notched two sacks against the Volunteers, including a crucial one in the final minutes that sealed the victory for the Gamecocks, to land the Defensive Lineman of the Week distinction.

The Wonnum brothers are South Carolina’s latest SEC Player of the Week honorees since Week 6, when kicker Parker White and cornerback Jaycee Horn were recognized for their performances against Missouri.
