Back home to finally finish their regular season with a makeup game against Akron, the South Carolina Gamecocks have been installed as 30-point favorites over the Zips.
The line, which initially opened with the Gamecocks at a 28.5-point advantage, quickly swelled in favor of the home team.
Akron, hailing from the MAC and coached by former Auburn head man Terry Bowden, is currently on a four-game losing streak. The Zips (4-7, 2-6) are fifth out of six in the MAC East standings and coming off a 49-28 drubbing from Ohio. Akron’s high point this season was its 39-34 upset win over No. 21 Northwestern back on Sept. 15, but the Zips have otherwise struggled.
The over/under is set at 56. South Carolina is 7-4 against the spread, while Akron is 4-7.
