South Carolina’s Jaycee Horn, Dylan Wonnum earn SEC All-Freshman honors

Well deserved recognition after impressive debut seasons.

The honors continue to roll in for the South Carolina Gamecocks, as cornerback Jaycee Horn and offensive lineman Dylan Wonnum were named to the SEC’s All-Freshman Team on Thursday.

Horn, who arrived on campus with no small amount of hype and immediately drew praise from the coaches during camp, had a stellar debut season with the Gamecocks. He was a Day 1 starter who racked up 39 tackles, three for loss, and added eight pass breakups. Despite his youth, Horn was a steadying influence on the secondary and helped elevate a unit that many were concerned about prior to the season. Horn earned an SEC Freshman of the Week nod after his performance against Missouri.

Wonnum, the younger brother of defensive line standout D.J., started the last five games of the regular season for South Carolina. The right tackle was recognized as SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week after his very first start against Tennessee, and has helped pave the way for a productive Gamecocks offense.
