With this South Carolina baseball team, you never really know what you’re going to get. On Tuesday night, we got a whole lot of offense, as the Gamecocks got back in the win column with a blowout victory over the Bulldogs.

USC got on the board first, taking a 2-0 lead in the third inning. Jacob Olson walked to start things off, Chris Cullen singled, and Carlos Cortes followed with an RBI single. With one out, LT Tolbert grounded out to bring Cullen home.

The Gamecocks added two more runs in the next inning. With two outs, Riley Hogan smacked a double, then Jacob Olson went yard to make it 4-0. South Carolina tacked on another run in the top of the sixth inning on a homer by Madison Stokes, who returned to the lineup in this game. The Citadel scored its only run of the game in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI single to make the score 5-1.

USC blew things wide open in the seventh inning. Olson walked to lead off, Cullen doubled and Cortes and Justin Row each knocked RBI singles to put the Gamecocks up 7-1. Another run scored on an error, then Stokes singled to make it 9-1. Matt Williams followed with a walk that loaded the bases, and with two outs, Olson homered to clear the bases and bring in the final three runs of the game.

Carmen Mlodzinski made his first start of the season in this game and did a great job, working five innings and giving up just two hits and no runs. He walked batter and struck out five. Mlodzinski also got the win and is now 1-3. Parker Coyne, Graham Lawson, and Corey Stone also pitched in this game.

With the win, South Carolina improves to 19-14, while The Citadel is now 12-20. The Gamecocks will be back in action on Thursday, as they open up a series at Arkansas. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
