After hours of weather delays, the No. 2 Gamecocks did just enough on Saturday night/Sunday morning to earn another victory in the Greenville Regional and maintain their spot in the winner’s bracket.

South Carolina jumped out to an early lead, going up 3-0 in the first inning. Regional MVP candidate Danny Blair singled to lead off, then advanced to second on a one-out balk, Madison Stokes walked, and Jonah Bride brought them both home with a two-run double to make the score 2-0. With two outs, LT Tolbert got Bride in with an RBI single.

No. 1 ECU ended the shutout in the fourth inning on an RBI sac fly that made it 3-1. The Pirates added their only other run in the sixth inning as part of a double steal, making the score 3-2.

The Gamecocks scored the final run of the game in the eighth inning. Justin Row got hit to start things off and advanced on a wild pitch, then came home on a two-out RBI double by Jacob Olson.

Starter Cody Morris had a strong outing, pitching 7.1 innings and giving up just five hits and two runs. Morris walked four batters and struck out seven, and he earned the win. Ridge Chapman and Sawyer Bridges also pitched in this game.

South Carolina will again play the second game on Sunday, taking on the winner of the early game between ECU and No. 4 UNC-Wilmington.
