South Carolina’s great start to SEC play got even better with an 85-75 win over Missouri in which the Gamecocks were more or less in control from wire to wire. Freshman forward Keyshawn Bryant had a coming out party, leading South Carolina with 15 points, and veteran big Chris Silva continued his strong play with 14. Felipe Haase added 14 points as well in another season-best performance, and Hassani Gravett remained a spark off the bench with 12 points. The Gamecocks shot an impressive 51.7 percent from the field in a game that had been rescheduled due to weather impacting the Tigers’ travel.

What to watch for

Vanderbilt’s bizarre arena has not been friendly to the Gamecocks lately, who have lost their past five matchups in Nashville. The ‘Dores have an 8-2 record at home this season, although they’re winless in the SEC against No. 18 Ole Miss, Georgia, and 12th-ranked Kentucky. Simisola Shittu leads Vanderbilt with 14.1 points and 8.1 rebounds per game. During their current streak, South Carolina is averaging a robust 85 points per contest, and the Commodores have a middle-of-the-pack field goal percentage defense (41.2). We’ll see if the Gamecocks can keep up the offensive fireworks and finally notch another victory in Nashville.
