The Gamecocks kept their hot streak going over the weekend, taking the series from Ole Miss and improving to 28-19 (13-11 SEC). Carolina will be back in action tonight, taking on the College of Charleston in a neutral site game in Columbia. The Gamecocks have a 50-8 lead in the all-time series and this will be the first time the teams have played at a neutral site.
The Cougars are 33-16 (14-7 CAA) and had a hot start to their season that included a sweep of Georgia. They beat Towson in their series last weekend and are coming off of a win against The Citadel Tuesday night. Of course the big story tonight is that many of South Carolina’s players will have the strange experience of seeing their former coach in the opposing dugout, as College of Charleston is where Chad Holbrook landed after leaving South Carolina last season. While it’s an unusual situation, one that Holbrook said will bring “mixed emotions,” both sides will try to approach the game itself as business as usual.
