Greenville Regional Day 3 Recap

A regional game was delayed by bad weather yet again on Sunday and the game between ECU and UNCW that began at 2 p.m. didn’t wrap up until nearly 11 p.m. The Seahawks rallied from down 5-0 to win 9-7 and eliminate the East Carolina Pirates. UNCW survived to play South Carolina in Game 6 of the regional.

Greenville Regional Game 6 Preview: #2 South Carolina vs #4 UNCW

This game was supposed to be played yesterday after the conclusion of Game 5, forcing South Carolina’s opponent to play a doubleheader while facing elimination. However the lengthy weather delay and long game made it basically impossible to play Sunday night and the game was pushed back to today. The Gamecocks still have an edge in terms of rest, having played one less game than the Seahawks. South Carolina has not officially named a starter, but is in good shape from a pitching standpoint and should have nearly every relief pitcher available out of the bullpen today.

This is an elimination game for UNCW since they already have one loss this weekend. The Gamecocks can win the regional with a victory over the Seahawks. If Carolina wins they will advance to take on Arkansas in Fayetteville in the Super Regional round. A UNCW win would give both teams one loss and force a winner-take-all game to determine who advances. That game would be played at 5 p.m. today.

When: Monday, 1 p.m.
