A busy day - which saw several Gamecocks have their names called in the NFL Draft - got even busier with the addition of WR Shawn Smith to the class of 2017. It got even more busy as South Carolina picked up their second verbal of the afternoon in Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas RB Kyshaun Bryan.
Bryan is ranked by 247 as the #25 running back in his class. A 5'10", 190-pounder, he received offers from Clemson, Duke, Florida, LSU, Miami (Fla.), and Mississippi State (among others), but spurned those offers to commit to playing for Will Muschamp and the Gamecocks in 2017. Bryan's recruiter of record was Travaris Robinson, who was able to work his connections in his native South Florida to land a player that could have a big impact on the running game here in Columbia.
The Gamecocks now have eight players committed from the class of 2017. Bryan is the first running back of the class to commit to Carolina and the sixth player on offense, joining TE Will Register, OTs Summie Carlay, Dennis Daley and Eric Douglas, and the earlier commit of Smith, the wideout.
