YahooSports: Sources: Houston's Tom Herman no longer a candidate to coach South Carolina. Pat Forde says that according to multiple sources Tom Herman had extensive discussions with USC, but has now withdrawn his name from consideration. He then mentions Smart as a possible Plan B for the Gamecocks.

FoxSports: Source: Alabama DC Smart frontrunner for South Carolina job. Bruce Feldman says that Kirby Smart is the most likely candidate to get the job right now.

ESPN: Alabama Crimson Tide defensive coordinator Kirby Smart a leading candidate for South Carolina Gamecocks job. Like the report from Fox, this one also says that Kirby is being pursued by South Carolina and leads the pack. And like Yahoo, it also cites sources that say Herman is no longer a candidate.
