Tough news coming out of the South Carolina Gamecocks' practice fields this evening: the team officially announced that freshman WR Jerad Washington has broken his leg and will miss the entire 2015 season.
Washington, a Jacksonville (Fla.) First Coast product, was the third string wideout at the "Z" receiver spot behind Pharoh Cooper and Matrick Belton. He was expected to see at least some time on the field as part of a young receiver corps. With his injury wiping out his season, he will have to take a medical redshirt but will have his entire eligibility remaining.
This is the second wide receiver to go down for the Gamecocks. Shaq Davidson, a redshirt freshman from Gaffney, is done for the year with a leg injury. Davidson had surgery on a damaged ligament and won't see the field, but hopefully will return for his redshirt sophomore season in 2016.
Washington's teammates and friends took to Twitter to post their support and to send their well-wishes in hopes that he will make a full recovery and return to the team next year healthy and ready to contribute.
Yall keep @JeradWashington in your thoughts! Get well soon bro!
