6' 0" / 202 lbs
A consensus 3-star recruit. Ranked the fifth-best player in South Carolina, the 35th-best wide receiver in the country, by 247Sports.
Redshirted in 2014.
Samuel will start tomorrow's game against UNC alongside Pharoh Cooper and Carlton Heard. He's not the biggest wide receiver to ever come through the program, but he's shaping up be a possession receiver and sometimes deep threat. He'll get a lot of looks and be expected to keep the chains moving and make defenses pay enough attention to give Cooper some big play opportunities. He's bigger than guys like Bruce Ellington and Damiere Byrd, but look for him to fill a similar role.
The receiving core is young and inexperienced behind Pharoh, and the staff are looking for Samuel to make an immediate impact. He's had a great spring and is likely to get targeted all over the field, so let's hope he's ready to play come game time.
